Prep boys basketball: Boys' hoops notes
Everyone has a theory on how to contain Judge Memorial's Noel Hollingsworth. Most of them involve some form of double team or forcing Hollingsworth to shoot outside shots. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Skyline was able to contain Hollingsworth to 12 points, with only six of those points coming from inside the paint.
"It was going to require all five guys doing their job to defend the big guy inside." Skyline coach Derek Bunting said. "You can't guard him one on one because if he gets the ball inside, you are done."
Highland tried to guard Hollingsworth with 6-foot-4, 290-pound center Latu Heimuli.
Going into the game, Heimuli was ready for Judge's big man.
"I am going to try and push him around early and get him out of his comfort zone," Heimuli said. "I want to keep him from getting it down low because he can get that baby hook all day."
But, the big frame couldn't contain the long reach as Hollingsworth went for 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Hollingsworth will continue to see different looks as Judge takes on Ben Lomand on Jan. 2.
