Salt Lake CC is set to defend SWAC Title

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (January 4, 2008)- The Salt Lake CC Women’s Basketball team headed up to North Idaho for a three game set against former division one athletes.   Salt Lake finished the weekend 2-1 and brings their record to 11-4 at the half way point of the season. 

On Thursday night Salt Lake played a team consisting of former players from the Idaho area called Idaho Elite.  In a tough game that saw Salt Lake up four points at the half Idaho took control in the second and won 63-52.  Keshia Catten had 17 points and Michelle Pace had 14 points in the game.

Friday night Salt Lake looked to rebound from the tough loss facing Northwestern Elite.  Salt Lake won the game (75-59) on the glass out rebounding Northwestern 49-33.  Nicole Brady came off the bench and contributed a double double with 18 points and 10 boards, Michelle Pace finished in double figures again with 10 points.  Keshia Catten did not let down with 21 points of her own.

In the final game of the weekend Salt Lake took on an elite team from Washington.  Salt Lake came out on top with a 70-65 win.  Keshia Catten scored again in double figures with 23 and Michelle Pace powered her way to 10 points.  Krista Farr had a strong showing with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals to seal the win for Salt Lake.

Salt Lake is ready to defend their conference title starting at Snow College on January 12 in Ephraim Utah.
