Here are three players -- whom you might not heard of before -- to watch from Region 1. I will try to make my way through most (at least Class 2A-5A) of the regions by the time the playoffs start.
Kelsey Campbell, Davis -- Dani Hosking may be the team's leading scorer but the Darts wouldn't be where they are without Campbell. She's the team's second leading scorer, averaging 12.5 points a game and she proved that she can pick up the scoring slack when the team needs it. On Tuesday's 49-38 loss to Fremont, Campbell was the team's leading scorer as the Silver Wolves zeroed-in on Hosking. She had 17 points and hit three three-pointers.
Erika Nish, Fremont -- She's a top player for the Fremont volleyball team but she's starting to find her game on the basketball court. Nish is a good finisher, making shots even if defenders are hanging off of her arms. She doesn't get rattled when defenders get in her face. If her teammates find her in the key, she'll find a way to score.
Kelsey Sparkman, Weber -- Sparkman has been dependable for the much-improved Warriors all year. She's the team's leader but she's not very vocal. She leads by example, scoring when her team needs it and staying positive when her team is down. She doesn't ask many questions and she does what she's told. In the process, she has scored about 15 points a game.
