When discussing with parents and players their recruitment it is often stated that the player would like to stay "close".   Any ultimate decision made should be by the player and their parent.   However, my advice during the recruiting process would be to take a look at alternatives and allow yourself to be recruited. You may receive some great opportunities.

Recently Kamille Lisonbee signed with d-I Marshall University, a member of Conference USA.   One of the possibilities that she was considering was walking on and paying her way to a local school.  Due to our close working relationship with the various college scouting services, we were able to find her an alternative.

Out of state tuition, books, room & board, etc. to Marshall is in excess of $ 21,000 per year. All scholarships are one year in nature.   Four years and a degree from Marshall would cost approximately $ 85,000.

Sometimes people question the "value" of partiicipating in club basketball with our organization.  While I don't know how to "value" the acheivement of becoming a better player, making the team, winning a state championship, being all region, all state or other recognition scholarships are quantifiable.

According to the NCAA approximately 3% of high school athletes go on to play college basketball.  Approximately 95% of our club players have moved on to play at the next level.  Of those 5% that didn't it was due to chosing to not play not for lack of opportunity.

This year (2008) we have had 16 players (boys & girls) receive NCAA division I college basketball scholarships. That number may still rise.  There are also a number of players that have received opportunites at the other various levels of college basketball.   We are currently at 32 (and still counting) players that are moving on this year to play college basketball.   I will let you do the math as to the total scholarship dollars that our players have received in this year alone.
