At Bingham High School: Earned team’s Most Improved Player award his senior season for Coach Mark Duback after he averaged 14.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.8 blocks per game in helping the Miners to a region championship. Was an honor roll student.

Coach Reid On John:
“John has made great strides every year. When we recruited him to Snow we thought his best years would be as a junior and senior and we still believe that. He’s a legitimate five-man who has made tremendous porgress because of his work ethic and dedication. He’s a good shooter but he needs to be more consistent with his post skills and with reading situations. How he makes the transition from junior college to NCAA Division-I will be a question but he’s got the skills. He’s a good rebounder who can move laterally, something a lot of big men can’t do, and who can also hit free throws, which can be very important at the end of games.”
