LADY BADGERS FALL TO TEAM ELITE 75-68
EPHRAIM – Snow College Head Women’s Basketball Coach Cindy Lindsay spent an off-season piecing together a new unit that had only one part-time starter returning and several key new pieces to plug-in. Saturday night in Ephraim Lindsay played with several combinations to find out how the new faces would blend but came up short in a pre-season battle against the Team Elite Flight All-Stars 75-68.
The Elite team featured several former Division 1 players and while a little gassed at the end, the Elite experience seemed to win out.
“Our inexperience showed tonight,” said Lindsay. “Our kids battled and played hard, but it was tough to match their maturity. Games like tonight will help toughen our kids.”
With five minutes to go and the game knotted at 64, the Flight closed with an 11-4 run to win the game.
Sophomore Amy Parkinson (Uintah High School) led the Lady Badgers with 17 points and seven rebounds. The 6-foot 1 Center nailed two three pointers, one coming in a stretch that saw the Lady Badgers take their first lead at 52-51 with just under 13 minutes remaining.
The Badgers also had spark’s from two other Sophomores, Taesha Higbee from Taylorsville and Celeste Wouden from Box Elder had nine and eight points off the bench.
The Lady Badgers Badgers next play Montana Tech Tuesday night in Ephraim.
