Women’s basketball played tough despite the loss

Salt Lake City, UT. (November 14, 2008) #24 Salt Lake women’s basketball narrowly lost to #6 Midland College by the score of 55-56 in their second game of the Salt Lake Tournament.

The key players from tonight’s game were sophomores Nicole Brady, Marquina Gilliam-Hicks, and freshman Kelsey Sparkman. Brady played a solid game for the Bruins. She had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Gilliam-Hicks scored 11 points, she ended with 3 steals, 6 rebounds. She had another good night from the free throw line going 5 of 6 from the line. Sparkman lead all scorers from both teams with 13 points. She also had 3 steals, 9 rebounds and was 5-7 from the floor.

Despite the one point loss the team as a whole had 14 steals, 39 rebounds, and was 19-26 from the free throw line. The team takes to the hardwood tomorrow again for the SLCC basketball Tournament when they play Runner-Up NJCAA Champions Central Arizona @ 6 p.m.
