Three-Ball Propels Falcons To 68-47 Win Over NCCU At Air Force Classic

USAF Academy, Colo. - Led by sophomore Raimee Beck's record-breaking three-point shooting, Air Force women's basketball rolled to a 68-47 win over North Carolina Central in the opening game of the 2008 Air Force Classic, Friday night at Clune Arena. The Falcons will take on Miami (Ohio) in the Championship game Saturday, Dec. 6, after the RedHawks defeated Texas-Pan American 66-44 in the second game.

Beck tied a school record with eight three-point baskets and had a career-high 30 points. The guard was 8-for-8 from behind the arc, surpassing the previous school record of 4-for-4 on perfect three point attempts. Her 30 points was the most by a Falcon since 2002, when Latoya Howell scored a Div. I record 38 points against Minnesota on Nov. 30, 2002.

Beck also eight rebounds and four assists. The Blackfoot, Idaho, native was 9-for-11 from the field in 38 minutes played.

Aided by Beck's hot shooting, Air Force shot a school, single-game record 73.3 percent from three-point range, sinking 11-of-15 attempts.

Freshman point guard Anna Gault and junior reserve forward Kathleen Schjodt also had solid games for the Falcons. Gault had a career-high 10 assists, marking the first time since 2003 that a Falcon reached double-figures in assists. Schjodt came off the bench to record her first-career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior Brooke Cultra also played well for the Falcons, with 17 points and five rebounds. Air force shot 46.9 percent from the field and went a perfect 11-for-11 from the line.

Led by Beck's 20 first-half points, the Falcons jumped out to a 36-20 halftime lead. The Eagles got to within 10 points early in the second-half, but the Falcons eventually pulled away. NCCU's leading scored was senior forward Jori Nwachukwu, with 13 points and five rebounds.
