LEXI AMUNDSEN, Hillcrest, basketball:
This senior post player is providing the kind of leadership that makes a coach's job much easier.
"She is probably the best post player in the state," said Hillcrest coach Dave Richardson. "She's going to be quicker than any other post player. And right now she's shooting 60 percent."
After the Huskies lost their season-opener 98-53 to Bingham, Amundsen came to practice with more purpose.
"She just came in and took over," Richardson said. "She said, 'We need to be more intense in practice.' Now practice is like a game instead of just going through the motions."
Also a tennis player and track athlete, she scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds against Copper Hills and had 26 points against Viewmont. She also maintains a 3.7 GPA.
