Biggest sports thrill: “Making it to the playoffs last year. It was pretty cool to beat Northridge (in a play-in game) and go to state.”
Best advice I’ve ever received: “You have two choices: work hard or quit.”
Last week: Hazlett, Syracuse’s leading scorer at 13 points per game, dropped in 11 points as the Titans (5-1) opened the Region 1 season with a convincing 66-35 victory over Viewmont.
Hazlett on her performance: “I’m feeling pretty confident right now. Our team has a lot of talent and it’s working pretty hard. We all get along together. We’ve had a year experience with each other and that’s helped us. I’m a captain this year so I’m a leader of the team. Our goals are definitely to take region first and then to take state.”
Coach Rob Reisbeck on Hazlett: “She’s expanded her game this year to get to the free throw line and is driving to get some more points. We’ve looked to her to be more of a leader this year and she’s taken on that role. With a year of varsity experience she’s playing with a lot more confidence right now.”
After high school: “I don’t know where I’m going to go, but I know I’m going to be a pharmacist. I definitely want to play basketball at a Division I school.”
