Despite loss Salt Lake Women's Basketball shot well

Tucson, AZ. (December 29, 2008) #22 Salt Lake basketball team (8-5) had a tough lost in their first game during the Pima Tournament 57-67 to host school Pima College.

The Bruins lost despite a good performance from Marquina Gilliam-Hicks, Kelsey Sparkman and Nicole Brady. Gilliam-Hicks and Sparkman each had 13 points on the night.   Brady led the team with 16 points and 8 rebounds.

As a whole, Salt Lake women shot well with a 47% shooting percentage. Regardless of the high shooting percentage, Salt Lake women were out-rebounded 43-30 by Pima. Salt Lake held Pima to 34% shooting however, it was the rebounding by Pima that was the difference maker. Most of the rebounds for Pima came on the offensive side of the court, which created enough offense for Pima to get the win.

Salt Lake women play again tomorrow at 5:15 vs. Mesa College during the second day of the Pima Tournament.
