Salt Lake Women's basketball picks up their Second Conference win
Salt Lake City, UT. (January 17, 2009) The Salt Lake Women's Basketball Team picked up their second consecutive conference win of the season, winning 76-53. The Lady Bruins are now 11-7, 2-1 on the season and currently have a two game winning streak. The first half ended with the Bruins holding a slim 3-point lead; they opened up offensively in the second half.
Contributing for the Bruins were sophomores Nicole Brady and Allie Lunt and freshmen Marcilina Gray and Amie Jensen. Brady led all Bruin scorers with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal. Lunt was 2-7 from the 3-point line. She finished with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Gray came off the bench with a solid performance. She had a season-high 12 points, 4 steals and grabbed 7 rebounds. Gray was 4-7 from the floor. To finish, Jensen had 8 points and 3 rebounds.
The Bruin defense held the Spartans to 34% shooting and 25% from 3-point land. The team scored 32 points off Spartan turnovers and shot 42% on the night.
The Bruins will meet the North Idaho Cardinals on January 22, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
