Salt Lake Women's basketball wins their second straight 

Salt Lake City, UT. (February 7, 2009)   The Salt Lake Women’s Basketball Team picked up their fourth conference win of the season, against the #18 Cardinals of North Idaho by a score of 70-59.  With this win, Salt Lake is one game shy of being .500 on the season in conference play. The Bruins are now 13-11, 4-5 on the season.  

Contributing for the Bruins was sophomores Nicole Brady, Marquina Gilliam-Hicks, and freshman Kelsey Sparkman. Brady finished with 17 points and 6 rebounds. She was a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. Gilliam-Hicks finished the night with a season-high 17 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Sparkman also played solid contributing 12 points, 4 rebounds and she was 4 of 5 from the floor.  

As a whole, the Bruin defense held the Cardinals to 9% from the 3-point line during the second half and 31% for the game. Offensively Salt Lake ended 21 of 47 from the floor and 4 of 8 from the 3-point line. The Bruins shot 44.7% on the night and 50% from the 3-point line to secure the win.  

The Bruins look to extend their current win streak of two, as they head to Colorado Northwestern on Feb. 13 and 14th.  Friday’s game starts at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday’s starts at 3:00 p.m.
