Salt Lake Women's basketball falls short against #11 CSI 

Salt Lake City, UT. (February 20, 2009)   SLCC Women’s Basketball (15-13, 6-7) lost to the #11 CSI Women’s Basketball team (22-4, 12-1) by a score of 59-64. Salt Lake was up by three with 3:04 remaining, but could not hold on for the win.  

Despite the loss, the Bruins had solid play from sophomores Marquina Gilliam-Hicks and Allie Lunt and freshman Amie Jensen. Gilliam-Hicks ended her last home game of her career with a solid game of 16 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 assists. Lunt also ended on a high note with 12 points, 1 assist and 1 block. Jensen scored a season-high 10 points and followed it up with 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. 

As a whole, the Bruins shot 41% from the field and 80% from the free throw line. They finished with 6 steals, 3 blocks, 28 rebounds and they were 23-55 from the floor. Defensively, Salt Lake held the Eagles to 26% from the 3-point line.  

SLCC concludes their regular season on the road against Eastern Utah on Friday February 27, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday February 28, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. The Bruins beat CEU at home earlier this year by five. The Bruins look to finish conference play with a  winning record.
