A lot of leaders push their teammates. This three-sport athlete is no different in expecting her teammates to play hard, but she may be different in how she elicits effort from them.
"She doesn't expect any more from anyone than what she is willing to give," said Rich coach Scott Ferguson. "But she expects them to give what she gives."
Eastman's greatest strength may not even be her athleticism. It may be her drive to excel. The honor student will play basketball for Westminster College next season.
"She made our basketball team great," Ferguson said. "She knows how to win. She knows how to get others to win with her."
Eastman averaged 17.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.4 steals in earning her second-straight 1A MVP award. But both her coaches and teammates confirm, it isn't the individual accolades this senior works for — it was a second state title for the Rebel team.
Teammate Oaklee Wilson summed up Eastman after the Rebels earned their second-straight 1A state title last month.
"She is really fun," Wilson said. "She makes us all better."
