Metro player Jasmine Porter was selected Standard Examiner All Area First Team. Congratulations to Jasmine on her selection.

   School:    Layton Christian

   Year:    Junior

   Position:    Small forward

   Height:    6-foot-2

   On the court:   

Porter, 
a three-year starter, averaged 19.1 points (season-high 37 versus Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s) on 47.0 percent shooting — 38.0 percent on 3-point attempts (19 3s) — and 74.0 percent free-throw shooting. She also averaged 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.1 steals and 9.8 blocks (season-high 18 versus Star Valley, Wyo.) with 12 triple-doubles for the Eagles (2-15 overall, 2-8 Region 14), who advanced to the state 2-A playoffs.

   Bobby Porter’s comments:

   “Jasmine had to play every position throughout the season and is the most versatile player in the state. She is a very good ballhandler.”
