Standouts from End of the Trail

OREGON CITY, Ore. -- The End of the Trail and adidas Northwest Summer Showcase made the area south of Portland the place for West Coast talent to congregate. Some of the slightly off-the-radar players are accounted for here.

2010 Checklist

The state of Utah hasn't been a frequent source of talent for the major colleges, with Michelle Harrison, a junior-to-be at Stanford, the most recent example. Jasmine Porter of Layton, Utah, could very well be next in line. The athletic, 6-2 wing has a range of colleges recruiting her, including some Pac-10 and Big 12 schools. If better exposed, the list might be longer. Porter is a fluid athlete, explosive off the floor, with long arms which make her more than an adept shot-blocker and potential for lockup defender on the next level. She can put the ball on the floor, pass it and even shoot it, from time to time, out to the arc. The one thing she lacks is kind of an elite-level swagger, which may only be the result of where she's from, not where she's going.
