
SALT LAKE CITY — Blackfoot standout, Zac Packer was recently invited by Dave Hammer of the Salt Lake Metro basketball organization to participate in the Centerstage Premier basketball tournament in Las Vegas.
Salt Lake Metro basketball is a nationally recognized organization available by invitation only to participate in elite tournaments nation wide.
Led by head coach Dave Hammer, a coach with twelve years of college coaching experience, over 143 former boys and 117 former girl players have gone on to play at the collegiate level, making this a rare and exciting opportunity for the Blackfoot star.
The Las Vegas tournament consisted of over 100 of the top all-star AAU teams across North America.
With the large tournnament field of the best high school players in the country, Zac was able to showcase is skills in front of a large contingent of collegiate basketball coaches from around the country.
Highlights of the highly prestigious event included wins over all-star teams from Seattle and San Diego.
Zac initially was supposed to have started play with team Metro in March but missed playing time because of an injury suffered at last years state tournament.
“Where has Zac been all spring, we really could have used him.” Coach Hammer said.
“Zac played really well and adds a lot to the team.”
Zac was instrumental in the win over the Seattle team.
With four minutes to go in the game with his team trailing by 7 points, Zac turned in a performance that area basketball fans have come to expect from the Blackfoot Bronco point guard, scoring five points while collecting a pair of steals to go along with three assists.
In the end, that performance proved to critical in the the SLC Metro four point victory.
