England excited about returning to Spectrum

When the Wolverines last visited the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, only one current member of the team saw action for Utah Valley University.
Kevin Woods logged 24 minutes in that Dec. 20, 2007 game. While he is the only player with experience in facing rabid Utah State fans, a fellow teammate is well aware of how crazy the Spectrum can get tonight.
Aaron England spent the 2006-07 season as an Aggie. He redshirted at USU, then left the program.
“It is going to be cool; I think it will be fun,” England said when asked about returning to USU for tonight’s game. “It’s going to be loud. I’m excited though and think it’ll be fun.”
After two years at Eastern Utah, where he averaged more than nine points a game and shot better than 50 percent from 3-point land, England is now a Wolverine. The junior has saw action in all eight games at UVU this year, starting seven.
“I’m playing OK; I’ve had a few decent games,” said England, who is averaging 7.6 ppg in 25.9 minutes of action an outing. “I’ve been starting and playing quite a bit. I’m still just trying to fit into my niche.”
At Eastern Utah, he helped the team get off to a 14-0 start last season. He called his sophomore year “a lot of fun.” Now the shooting guard is hoping to help the Wolverines have success.
“He is a great kid that can really shoot the ball,” UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker said.
England is shooting 44.7 percent from the field, while making 43.5 percent of his 3-point shots (10-of-23). He is also averaging 2.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
Aggie guard/forward Pooh Williams is the lone player that was around when England redshirted at USU. Williams called his former teammate “a really good player.” The two were neighbors in the dormitories and have kept in touch. They recently had some fun visiting about this evening’s game.
“He’s real excited about coming back,” Williams said. “I talked to him yesterday (Wednesday), and he was talking about dropping 30 on us. So yeah, he is excited to come back.”
England would like nothing more than to come back and help UVU win.
“Coach Hunsaker does a good job of making sure we are prepared,” England said.
Will it be weird returning to the Spectrum?
“Maybe, but it has been a while,” England answered. “I don’t think it will be as weird as people might think it will be.”
