It's a new year and it's time to begin planning for our tournament travel for the 2010 club season. There is usually some variance as to the individual tournaments attended from year to year as we assess the needs of each year's players. Basically we either attend tournaments on weekends during the Spring or attend tournaments held during the July NCAA open recruiting period.
The vast majority of our club tournament travel season is held during the NCAA Division I Basketball open recruiting period in July. Below is a copy of the NCAA's July 2010 Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Recruiting Calendar. The blue evaluation periods are when coaches are able to view and evaluate prospects. These dates should be held open as potential travel dates for our club teams. The days immediately before may potentially be travel dates for those tournaments.
There is also a NCAA Women's evaluation period held April 16-18, 2010. There is not an open evaluation period for NCAA Men's Basketball other than the July period.
Attendance at the various tournaments that Salt Lake Metro teams will participate in will be determined at a later time after final roster assignments for the various teams have been completed. There is a possibility of attending tournaments that are not held during the NCAA evaluation periods.
