NEW FACE

The Wildcats got a new player on their practice squad last week.

Former Layton Christian standout BJ Porter enrolled in classes at WSU last week and began practicing with the Wildcats. Since he was enrolled at the University of Portland at the start of the school year he is not eligible to play for WSU, however he is allowed to be on the practice squad.

Porter, a 6-foot-3 guard, graduated from Layton Christian in 2007 after guiding the Eagles to the state 1-A title as a senior. He signed with the Pilots and was granted a medical hardship waiver his first season there after a knee injury limited him to just two games.

Last season, as a freshman, Porter appeared in 30 games and started the final four. However, he returned to Utah last semester due to family reasons and decided to stay close to home.

It’s not certain if Porter will be eligible to play for the Wildcats at the start of next season or if he will have to wait until the following January.
