2/22/2010
Rebecca Beaudoin will join the Griffins for the 2010-11 season.
SALT LAKE CITY– The Westminster women’s basketball team announced today that they have signed Rebecca Beaudoin from Alta High School in Sandy, Utah to an NAIA Letter of Intent. Beaudoin becomes the first player to sign with Westminster for the 2010-11 season.
Beaudoin, a 5-9 guard, is currently 20th in the state and fourth in 5A in scoring at 16.8 points per game for an Alta team that is 14-7 on the season. She has 71 makes from beyond the arc to rank second in the state and has 193 career three-pointers which is the second most in Utah history. Beaudon is a McDonald’s High School All-American nominee and is also on the school’s honor roll.
"We are thrilled that Becca has made the decision to attend Westminster and become of member of our basketball team,” head coach JD Gustin said. “She is prolific 3 point shooter that will fit right in to what we do offensively. I also like that she has the size and athleticism to potentially defend a number of different positions. She will have a chance to be a very good player for us."
Beaudoin was First Team All-Region and Honorable Mention All-Region last season. She also carries a 3.76 GPA and has been on the Honor Roll every quarter at Alta. Away from the court, Beaudon has a black belt in Tae Kwon Doe.
The high school senior will enroll at Westminster in the fall of 2010 and is currently undecided on a major. Her parents are Jim and Sue Beaudoin.
