SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster freshman guard Nicole Yazzie was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Week on Monday. This is the second consecutive week Yazzie has earned the honor and this is the fifth time this season a Griffins has claimed the award.
Yazzie scored 25 points, pulled down seven rebound,s and had seven assists to lead the Griffins to an 82-77 win over No. 12 Lewis-Clark State to claim the outright Frontier Conference championship. She hit 50 percent of her field goals, 44 percent of her three-point field goals and 71 percent of her free throws.
Westminster opens the Frontier Conference Tournament against Great Falls on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Behnken Field House.
