BABSON PARK, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2009-10 men's basketball award winners on Tuesday and NEWMAC regular season Champion, MIT, had a pair of individual honorees. Sophomore Noel Hollingsworth (Salt Lake City, Utah) was named the NEWMAC Player of the Year while teammate Mitchell Kates (Colts Neck, N.J.) was selected as the Rookie of the Year. Springfield's Charlie Brock was honored as the NEWMAC Coach of the Year for the second time. Coast Guard received the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award.
Hollingsworth was joined on the All-Conference First Team by Mark Alexander (Providence, R.I.) and Brian Vayda (Sturbridge, Mass.) from the NEWMAC Tournament Champions, Clark University. Springfield's Matt Cavalieri (West Warwick, R.I.) and Jeffrey Robinson (Granby, Conn.) of WPI were also First Team picks.
Pat Crean (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) of Springfield, Wheaton teammates Anthony Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) and Brendan Degnan (Narragansett, R.I.) and WPI's Kyle Nadeau (Webster, Mass.) were named to the Second Team All-Conference along with MIT's Kates.
